PureThread’s Jill Heller spoke on a fashion panel and curated fashion items for the runway show at Sustainatopia 2014, an annual sustainable fashion and design conference for the industries’ leading professionals.
A large focus of the conference agenda is zeroing in on eco friendly and sustainable fashion. Along with the fashion show, a number of events throughout the week will highlight sustainability efforts in fashion. Over 50 speakers are expected to speak on their expertise including Jill Heller, of PureThread. Jill also had the honor of being handpicked to curate a series of stunning evening looks from the very best sustainable designers to be featured on the runway during Sustainatopia’s April 16 eco friendly fashion show. Partnering with some of the industry’s frontrunners and most fashionable, including Indigenous, Stewart +Brown, Amour Vert, Under the Canopy, Titania Inglis, Suzanne Rae, Helena Fredriksson and Daniel Silverstein, Jill has been busy on the journey of bringing these designer’s ethics and ideas to the catwalk all in the spirit of sharing the story of today’s modern ethical woman.
“I think in images. I put rows of photo images on the floor of my studio and organized and reorganized them by theme, color, and category. I then marveled at the overwhelming talent behind each image; the designer as the creator, the fabric as the medium. Men and women who have worked hard to find a strong feminine and sustainable viewpoint”, Jill stated. “New values are emerging. This fashion show will be a tapestry of the many great designers whom I have had the pleasure to work with.”
